Alison Borthwick

Alison has over 17 years experience as a teacher, local authority mathematics adviser, Governor, Ofsted inspector and freelance consultant. She has taught in both Croydon and Norfolk local authorities across the primary age range and has worked with both primary and secondary schools as a mathematic adviser. Within freelance work she has travelled across the UK, providing CPD for many providers including BEAM and CIE. Internationally she has delivered training to Egyptian teachers in Cairo and has been involved in writing the new Bahrain Numeracy Strategy. She has been a guest lecturer on PGCE courses for both Cambridge University and UEA and has written several magazine and research articles for ATM and BSRLM. She is particularly passionate about how children approach both mental and written calculation strategies.
