Barbara Carr

Barbara has been a mathematics consultant since the introduction of the National Numeracy Strategy in 1999, supporting urban and inner city schools. Her specialism is in narrowing the gaps, supporting all children to achieve basic skills through effective quality first teaching and layered intervention. Having recently completed her first year training to be an Every Child Counts Teacher Leader, she has developed a deeper interest in diagnostic assessment and tailoring programmes to engage children to become active learners. Barbara was closely involved with the development of ‘Catch-Up Numeracy’ and has developed her own inclusion products. She is being sponsored to set up an innovative mathematics centre in a primary school in Slough that will bring training alive by involving children on site. Barbara was also a BEAM consultant.
