Judith Stevens

Judith Stevens has a diverse career in early years education. This has included working in the non-maintained sector as well as a teacher, maths coordinator and early years team leader. Following a long career in local authority advisory roles, Judith took on a leadership role in national programmes including Every Child a Talker. Judith is a prolific writer and has written numerous articles in a wide range of early years magazines. Most recent books include: Foundations of Mathematics: An Active Approach to Number, Shape and Measures in the Early Years (with Carole Skinner, Continuum, Autumn 2012), Maths Now: the definitive guide to maths in the early years foundation stage and Maths in Stories (BEAM/Nelson Thornes 2009/2008). As a former BEAM consultant Judith has provided extensive support and training and conference keynote addresses across England and Wales. She has an interest in all aspects of mathematics, particularly maths outdoors and through stories, rhymes and role play.
