Laura Clarke

Laura has over 20 years experience as a teacher, local authority consultant, university lecturer and freelance consultant. She has worked extensively on the Mathematics Specialist Teacher (MasT) programme since its inception and continues to work on the programme and with MaST teachers in their schools. Laura is passionate about inspiring children to learn mathematics and teachers to teach it. Laura has worked extensively with teachers and schools on using rich mathematical tasks to provide interesting starting points for mathematics lessons. She is also working with a small group of teachers on researching how the Singapore bar model of mathematics can be used to support children’s understanding of problem solving. As a lecturer on a ITT programme Laura is also leading a project to develop student teacher’s competence and confidence in teaching arithmetic.
