Michael Hall

Michael is currently a Lecturer in Mathematics Education at the Open University and his work includes supporting the MA in Education programme and the MA MaST primary mathematics programme. He is also working with an OU team, researching effective learning in primary mathematics classrooms. Michael has worked as a mathematics consultant with the Primary and Secondary National Strategies in Haringey and Lambeth, and as an Associate Regional Advisor for the Primary National Strategy. Other experience includes advisory teacher for mathematics, PGCE tutor at King’s College, London and tutor for B.Ed. and M.Sc. Education courses at South Bank University, where he also jointly planned and delivered the DfES 20-day primary mathematics course for Haringey, Enfield and Barnet. Michael has contributed materials to publications, including SMILE, NCET, NALDIC and the Mathematical Association. Recent projects include a three-year programme working with NRICH and primary schools in Haringey to develop thinking, reasoning and problem solving skills. Michael was a BEAM consultant for a number of years and his work with them included running PCAME courses for school clusters.
